Big Hill Lake

For now this section is about Denmark - and mainly the area around Copenhagen.

A small lake with free fishing, easily accessible at the end of the Metro (subway) line towards Amager Fælled. The whole Amager Fælled area is well worth a visit and easy to access using the metro or a car. No cars are allowed in the area, but on a bike you can even ride inside the fenced area, which has grazing cattle (behind further fences) as well as a lot of birds, plants and nice sights - just 15 minutes away from the town center.

Several lakes in the area has public fishing access as can be seen on this (Danish) folder from the Danish Nature Agency. The small fish symbols on the map indicate that fishing is allowed. A state license is still required of course.

Store Høj Sø

By car or bike via Kanovej or with the Metro to the Vestamager station. From there it's a short walk to the lake.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
